New Norton MeshPowerTM...

The demand for a cleaner working environment, better quality finish and reduced consumable cost has inspired the latest sanding solution from Saint-Gobain Abrasives; the Norton MeshPowerTM.

Developed to create a virtually dust-free working environment, the product range features a MeshPower matrix backing structure which aids in extracting dust from surfaces during sanding and brings a breath of fresh air to traditionally dirty sanding operations.

Ideal for manufacturing and industry – including transportation and energy, collision repair and woodworking, the Norton MeshPower range offers a new solution to a wide variety of applications.

Breath of fresh air
Norton MeshPower features a matrix backing containing thousands of tiny holes to help extract dust from the surface being worked on, enhancing the finish and controlling the dispersion of dust. When used in-conjuction with a machine sander with dust extraction, dust is efficiently removed throughout the sanding process, ensuring harmful particles that fill the air during traditional sanding operations are diminished. This allows operators to work in a cleaner, healthier environment, and reduces cleaning after use, saving time and boosting productivity.

Increased efficiency & consistency
Norton No-Fil® technology is applied to the abrasive grains of the Norton MeshPower range, which works to prevent clogging in combination with the mesh matrix. This means products can be used for longer and operators save both time and money. It also helps to achieve a better finish with a finer scratch pattern for faster sanding, with consistent results throughout the product life as the grain wears evenly.

With the open structure and the premium resin bond system, operators can use Norton MeshPower products wet or dry to achieve the perfect finish.

When the abrasive does eventually need to be changed, the self-gripping backing enables a quick and easy changeover. Due to the innovative mesh matrix, there is no defined hole pattern, and therefore no need to align any holes; simply apply to the backing pad and sanding can recommence.

Mark Radcliffe, National Sales Manager for Industrial Distribution at Saint-Gobain Abrasives, comments: “We’re delighted to launch Norton MeshPower, which will bring a breath of fresh air to a wide range of sanding operations. Operators have had to deal with dust and dirt from traditional sanding solutions for too long. Now they can take advantage of MeshPower to give them a cleaner working environment, which is better for both their health and efficiency as there’s less time wasted on the clean-up after each job.”

The highly versatile Norton MeshPower product range can be used on many materials, with or without a machine and on flat and contoured surfaces. Available in two quality tiers: ‘Best’ with premium ceramic grain and ‘Better’ with aluminium oxide grain, with the coarser grits featuring harder backing for heavy duty applications, and the light-weight backing on finer grits offering flexibility to work on curves and contours.

Norton MeshPower is available in discs, cut sheets, rolls and with a range of accessories to meet all operation requirements.
