Forestry Enterprise England becomes Forestry England...

Today marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter in our history. As well as celebrating 100 years of being proud custodians of the nation’s 1,500 forests, we are looking forward to the next 100 years as Forestry England.

As England’s largest land manager, we shape landscapes and are enhancing forests for people to enjoy, wildlife to flourish and businesses to grow. We have around 1,000 dedicated staff, 20,000 volunteers and 80,000 members. We know that the work we do today will influence the shape of the nation’s landscapes for generations to come.

We remain part of the Forestry Commission a non-ministerial government department. The Forestry Commission will still be the government’s expert forestry advisors, give grants, regulating tree felling and protecting trees and woodlands from pests and diseases. Forest Research is still Great Britain’s principal organisation for forestry and tree-related research.

Things are staying the same in Wales and changing in Scotland.
